Chlamydia trachomatis L1 Ab.IgG+IgA+IgM Interpretation
Active
Description
Chlamydia trachomatis L1 is the microorganism that causes lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV). Symptoms of infection include tender inguinal and/or femoral lymphadenopathy which is usually unilateral. Occasionally, a self-limiting genital ulcer appears at the inoculation site. If left untreated, LGV can develop into an invasive, systemic infection. Infection of the rectum and colon can lead to chronic colorectal fistulas and strictures. Several pieces of data are used to diagnose LGV including the suspicion of the clinician, epidemiologic information, and the exclusion of other etiologies for proctocolitis, inguinal lymphadenopathy, or genital or rectal ulcers. Laboratory tests are also useful to diagnose LGV including Chlamydia trachomatis culture, direct immunofluorescence, or nucleic acid detection.
