Fungal BT2 gene
Active
Description
The fungal beta tubulin (BT2) gene is present across varieties of common as well as rare pathogenic and non-pathogenic fungi. The BT2 gene contains a region that is highly conserved across species and which can be used as a pan-fungal molecular target to detect the presence of fungal pathogens. A positive result is followed up by further testing to determine the specific species present. PMID: 27071371 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
