Porcine circovirus type 3 ORF2 gene
Active
Description
Veterinary Medicine:
Porcine circoviruses (PCV) are small nonenveloped DNA viruses in the Circoviridae family that contain a single-stranded circular genome. PCV are the smallest viruses replicating autonomously in eukaryotic cells by utilizing the host polymerase for genome amplification. PCV type 3 (PCV3) was first identified in 2016 in the United States. Though infection with PCV3 is usually asymptomatic, it can cause systemic disease and reproductive disorders. Though the virus is newly described, it has existed for some time and is found in pigs across the world.https://www.nationalhogfarmer.com/animal-health/new-insights-spread-and-relevance-porcine-circovirus-type-3 The ORF2 gene is used to differentiate strains of PCV3.
