Description
Tianeptine is a selective serotonin reuptake enhancer (SSRE) that is used to treat major depression. Its mechanism of action is the opposite of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Tianeptine modulates the dopamine D2 and D3 receptors and increases the extracellular concentration of dopamine in the nucleus accumbens. It also acts on NMDA and AMPA receptors.
