Opipramol
Active
Description
Opipramol is an atypical antidepressant and anxiolytic drug. It is structurally similar to tricyclic antidepressants, but it has a different mechanism of action. Opipramol is a sigma-receptor agonist at both the sigma-1 and sigma-2 receptors, which give it antidepressant and anxiolytic effects, respectively. It also blocks histamine, serotonin, dopamine and alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, but does not affect norepinephrine, dopamine, or serotonin reuptake. PMID: 25722522 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
