Description
Genotypic susceptibility assays predict an organism's susceptibility to a particular antimicrobial based on the presence or absence of resistance-conferring genes or sequence variants. The variants that are discovered are compared to information in a database that links the mutation to drug susceptibility information, and predicted susceptibility results are reported. This is different from phenotypic susceptibility testing, which measures actual growth of the organism in the presence of one or more antimicrobials. http://cid.oxfordjournals.org/content/32/5/774.fullhttp://www.monogrambio.com/hiv-tests/genotyping-vs-phenotyping Source: Regenstrief LOINC
