Description
Klebsiella aerogenes, formerly known as Enterobacter aerogenes, is a Gram-negative bacterium in the family Enterobacteriaceae. It is found in the gastrointestinal tracts of mammals and subsequently in water, air and soil. K. aerogenes has developed multidrug-resistance (MDR), and is sometimes included in the ESKAPE (Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter sp.) human pathogen group. This group of pathogens is a common cause of clinically important infections worldwide. PMID: 28794987 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
