Acetylcholine receptor ganglionic neuronal
Active
Description
The ganglionic (alpha3-type) neuronal acetylcholine receptors (AChR) facilitate fast synaptic transmission in sympathetic, parasympathetic, and enteric autonomic ganglia. Autoantibodies against ganglionic neuronal AChr are present in approximately 50% of patients with autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy (AAG). Their clinical features include orthostatic hypotension, gastrointestinal and bladder dysfunction, sicca symptoms, and impaired pupillary light reflex. Like myasthenia gravis (MG), AAG is an antibody-mediated neurological disorder. Source: Regenstrief LOINC, PMID: 18567861
