Version 2.78

Description

Major histocompatibility complex, class II, DQ alpha 1, also known as HLA-DQA1, is a human gene. The protein encoded by this gene is one of two proteins that are required to form the DQ heterodimer, a cell surface receptor impportant for presenting antigens and triggering a humural immunity. The gene is highly polymorphic (as are other HLA genes), and allele type can correlate with various diseases (such as celiac). Antibodies formed in a transplant recipient to donor alleles can contribute to prediction of graft rejection. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
