Coxsackievirus B5 Ab
Active
Description
Coxsackievirus B5 (CVB5) is a serotype of the human enterovirus B (HEV-B) species that is both neurotropic and cardiovirulent. CVB5 is a virus found to circulate during sporadic cases and outbreaks of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) around the world. CVB5 can be a life-threatening enterovirus that causes aseptic meningitis and acute myocarditis. Both CVB3 and CVB5 use a decay accelerating factor for primary attachment and the coxsackievirus and adenovirus receptor (CAR) as an internalization receptor. HEV-B, specifically CVA9, CVB1, CVB3, and CVB5 may be involved in the pathogenesis of childhood diabetes. PMID: 26009802 PMID: 23347781 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
