Hepatitis B virus DNA
Active
Description
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA is a marker of viral replication which can be detected early in acute hepatitis, even when indirect measures of HBV replication -- HBeAG and HBeAB are negative, as in immuno-compromised or immuno-suppressed patients. Detection of HBV DNA in serum four weeks after the ALT peak or eight weeks after onset of symptoms in acute viral hepatitis B. HBV DNA is an important independent predictor of response to prednisone/interferon thearpy in CVH-B. Source: Regenstrief Institute
