Version 2.78

Description

Morganella morganii is a rod-shaped, anaerobic, Gram-negative bacteria in the Enterobacteriacaeae family commonly found in the environment and human gastrointestinal tract. Despite its wide distribution, the species is considered a rare cause of nosocomial infections and is most commonly associated with post-operative wound and urinary tract infections. Certain clinical isolates are resistance to multiple antibiotics by carrying various resistance markers (e.g.blaNDM-1 and qnrD1). Other M. morgannii isolates have been found to carry other resistance markers, such as CTX-M, IMP, KPC, OXA, and VIM. PMID: 27421818 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
