Blastomyces sp Ag
Active
Description
Blastomyces sp antigen testing is used to assist in the diagnosis and monitoring of Blastomycosis, a serious and potentially fatal fungal infection. Testing can be performed on a variety of specimens, including urine, serum, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), offering a non-invasive way to diagnose blastomycosis. A positive Blastomyces antigen test may eliminate the need for surgical biopsy. In the case of a positive test results, patient exposure and travel history should be reviewed carefully as cross reaction of the Blastomyces antigen test and other dimorphic fungi is possible.
