Description

Pretomanid is a new drug in the nitroimidazooxazine class that is effective as part of a multi-drug regimen against multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). It has been studied in combination with bedaquiline and linezolid (BPaL) and bedaquiline, moxifloxacin, and pyrazinamide (BPaMZ). PMID: 30833432 As of November 2019, the BPaL regimen has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treating adult patients with extensively drug resistant (XDR) or treatment-intolerant or nonresponsive multidrug-resistant (MDR) pulmonary TB, and pretomanid is under review in the European Union.
