Version 2.78

Description

Heartland banyangvirus, or Heartland virus (HRTV), is part of the genus Phlebovirus and can be transmitted by ticks, mosquitoes, and sandflies. Clinical symptoms of Heartland virus disease are similar to other tick-borne illness and include fever, fatigue, anorexia, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, and joint pain. Lab studies show leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and elevation of liver transaminases. Testing for HRTV includes detection of Heartland virus RNA and IgM and IgG antibodies in various specimens, including CSF, whole blood, and serum. [CDC: heartland-virus] Source: Regenstrief LOINC
