Version 2.78

Description

Genetic screening for abnormal CYP1A2 metabolism is focused on the presence of *1C (-3860G>A), *1F (163C>A) and *1K (-729C>T) genetic polymorphisms. Individuals homozygous for *1F have higher CYP1A2 activity in the presence of CYP1A2 inducers. The *1C and *1K alleles are associated with decreased CYP1A2 activity with intermediate metabolism when 1 allele is present and slow (poor) metabolism when 2 alleles are present. Inducers for CYP1A2 activity include smoking, coffee, omeprazole, insulin. Inhibitors include oral contraceptives. The genotype results may be used to determine a patient's drug dose adjustment.
