Cytochrome P450-3A5 (CYP3A5; [HGNC Gene ID: 2638]), a member of the cytochrome P450 mixed-function oxidase system, is involved in the metabolism many drugs in current clinical use. Genetic variations in CYP3A5 can affect the response (i.e., efficacy or toxicity) to drugs metabolized by CYP3A5 and selection of alternative dosing or agents may be necessary in individuals with specific CYP3A5 genetic variations.
