Version 2.78

Description

HLA DRB3, 4 and 5 belong to the HLA class II beta chain paralogues that formed as a evolutionary duplication of HLA-DRB1. The HLA-DRB5, HLA-DRB3, and HLA-DRB4 genes encode for the serological antigens DR51, DR52 and DR53, respectively. While they exhibit fewer polymorphisms than HLA-DRB1, show moderate variability and are only present in a subset of individuals, antibody testing is routinely done as they are thought to play a role in transplant rejection PMID: 30192820 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
