Mycoplasma iowae
Active
Description
Mycoplasma iowae is an avian mycoplasma associated with embryo mortality and reduced hatchability. M. iowae is resistance to bile salts and many antimicrobials. In turkeys, the organism is transmitted via eggs and can also spread laterally. Successful eradication in some cases has been achieved by treating eggs with fluoroquinolones in addition to monitoring for infections and using stringent hygiene measures during artificial insemination.
