Version 2.77

Description

Dedicator of cytokinesis 8 (DOCK8) protein plays a role in regulating the cellular cytoskeleton, particularly microfilaments. DOCK8 is important in immunity by contributing to cellular migration, cytotoxicity, antibody production, and immunological memory. Deficiency of DOCK8 causes an immunodeficiency that presents in childhood with features including recurrent sinopulmonary infections, cutaneous viral infection, Staphylococcus aureus skin infections, cancer, and atopic disease (due to hyperimmunoglobulin E). NK cells (CD45+CD14-CD3-CD56+), T cells (CD3+CD14-CD45+), B cells (CD3-CD14-CD19+CD45+), and monocytes (CD45+CD14+) are all expected to express the DOCK8 protein. Therefore, assessment of DOCK8 expression on immune cells facilitates the diagnosis of DOCK8 deficiency. PMID: 28625885 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
