Description
Neuronal intermediate filaments (NIFs) are a group of neurofilaments that include light, medium, and heavy subunits as well as alpha-internexin. Accumulation of these filaments in the central nervous system is associated with a variety of progressive neurodegenerative disorders. PMID: 15161649 Antibodies to NIFs are associated with paraneoplastic disorders affecting the central nervous system, including those associated with cerebellar ataxia and/or encephalopathy.
