Sandfly fever Naples virus (SFNV) was isolated in 1971in Italy from the sandfly Phlebotomus perniciosus. SFNV belongs to the family Phenuiviridae, genus Phlebovirus [NCBI Taxonomy: 206160]. The primary vector of SFNV is Phlebotomus Papatasi. Sandfly fever Naples virus and Sandfly fever Sicilian virus infections share symptoms and clinical similarity. Symptoms often present as a 3 day fever with abrupt onset, headache, muscular pain, photophobia, and nausea PMID: 32878929. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
