| Article | Regenstrief LOINC | Lipoxygenase (LOX) is an enzyme that catalyzes polyunsaturated fatty acids such as arachidonic acid to form hyperperoxides through the eicosanoid pathway. The derived hyperperoxides or eicosanoids are signaling lipids that regulate a group of homeostatic and inflammatory processes. LOX is present in immune, epithelial, and tumor cells and can lead to inflammation, skin disorders, and tumorigenesis.
