Description

Staphylococcus saprophyticus (S. saprophyticus) is a gram-positive coccus that is a common cause of uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs). S. saprophyticus is part of the perineum, rectum, urethra, cervix, and gastrointestinal tract human flora. It is also found in pig and cow gastrointestinal flora, which can transfer to humans when consuming respective foods. S. saprophyticus is known to be resistant to Novobiocin.
