The SLC12A1 gene (solute carrier family 12 member 1) [HGNC Gene ID:10910] is located on chromosome 15q21.1. The protein encoded by this gene is a sodium-potassium-chloride cotransporter that is expressed on renal epithelial cells. This cotransporter is responsible for most of the kidney's NaCl resorption.
