Description
There are multiple techniques for temporary pacing, including transvenous, transcutaneous, epicardial, and transesophageal. Transvenous pacing uses central venous access; transcutaneous uses pads attached to the skin; epicardial, which is typically placed during cardiac surgery, applies leads to the epicardium; and transesophageal involves placement of an electrode in the esophagus or gastric fundus.
