Tartrazine is an azo dye used in many foods an drugs including antibiotics, antihistamines, steroids, bronchodilators and antidepressants (imipramine, desipramine, amitriptyline).
Allergy manifestations include anaphylactic shock, bronchospasm, urticaria (acute and chronic), angioedema, fixed drug eruption, contact dermatitis, allergic vasculitis and rhinitis.
