Therapeutic use of the GI tube includes gastric decompression, relief of symptoms and bowel rest after small bowel obstruction, aspiration of gastric content after recent ingestion of toxic material, administration of medication, feeding, and bowel irrigation. Fluid output is the amount of fluid obtained by aspirating the contents of the stomach through the gastric tube.https://emedicine.medscape.com/article/80925-overview#a2 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
