Manufacturers of urinalysis testing strips provide two means of interpretation: a range of mass or substance concentration (such as 2, 4, 8, and 12 mg/dL of urobilinogen) or an ordinal counterpart of negative, 1+, 2+, 3+. It is rare for a facility to adopt BOTH means of interpretation. The normal range in the local laboratory information system will inform the mapper of which path to follow.
