User profile images
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After creation of a user account, your profile picture is used to identify you while you are logged in to the site.
Media
If you upload images and documents, such as reference files, to the website, you should avoid uploading photos/images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included.
Cookies
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or (upon request) delete their personal information at any time—except they cannot change their username. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Searching the site, including SearchLOINC, causes the search terms and metadata to be retained indefinitely. This is done to monitor our site usage but also assist you with saved searches. We also log downloads so we may inform affected users in case of priority updates. Download logs are also retained indefinitely.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

We use Cloudflare Turnstile on our website—specifically on our user account registration, password reset, and login interfaces—to defend our systems against automated spam, credential-stuffing attacks, and malicious bot activities.Turnstile acts as a privacy-focused verification mechanism to confirm that web requests are initiated by real human users rather than automated scripts. To achieve this seamlessly and without disrupting your user experience, the service analyzes non-intrusive browser telemetry and device connection data (such as your client IP address, User-Agent configuration, TLS fingerprints, and related hardware-bound browser signals). Unlike legacy CAPTCHA providers, Cloudflare Turnstile does not deploy behavioral tracking cookies, cross-site profiling engines, or harvest user data for advertising retargeting or marketing profiles. Data processed through this tool is minimized strictly to the purpose of application security and fraud mitigation, operating under our legitimate interests to maintain a safe and stable environment for our members. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to analyze how users use our website.
The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
