Johnson grass (Sorghum halepense) produces pollen which often induces hayfever, asthma and conjunctivitis in sensitized individuals. It is a grass of the sorghum family. It is native to the Mediterranean region, but grows throughout Europe and the Middle East. Introduced to the United States around 1830.
