Additionally, it can be used to communicate a laboratory order, either alone or in combination with specimen or other information in the order. The major hormone derived from the thyroid gland. Thyroxine is synthesized via the iodination of tyrosine (monoiodotyrosine) and the coupling of iodotyrosine (diiodotyrosine) in thyroglobulin. Thyroxine is separated from thyroglobulin by proteolysis and released in the blood.
