Part Descriptions

LP16728-5   Neutrophil cytoplasmic
Neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies are autoantibodies that bind to the granulocytes of neutrophils. These antibodies were first identified in patients with Wegener's granulomatosis (WG) who also had systemic vasculitis and necrotizing crescentic glomerulonephritis. When viewed under a fluorescent microscope, a typical cytoplasmic fluorescent pattern is visible. These ANCA are called cytoplasmic ANCA (c-ANCA) and the antigen they target is proteinase 3 (PR3) which is part of the azurophilic granules of neutrophils. The perinuclear ANCA (p-ANCA) targets the antigen myeloperoxidase (MPO) and is associated with idiopathic forms of systemic vasculitis and glomerulonephritis. A third ANCA antibody is the atypical ANCA (a-ANCA). The presence of a-ANCA has been found in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), autoimmune-mediated liver diseases, rheumatoid arthritis RA, and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).[PMID:27366026] Copyright Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License. LP39202-4   Neutrophil cytoplasmic Ab
Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCAs) constitute a group of auto-antibodies, mainly IgG, directed against antigens in the cytoplasm of neutrophil granulocytes (the most common type of white blood cell) and monocytes. They are detected in vitro in a number of autoimmune disorders, but are particularly associated with systemic vasculitis. Change Reason
The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
