Results are reported as a ratio of the number of bcr/abl transcripts in the patient sample to the G6PDH transcripts in control specimens. Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) is a proliferation of stem cells which possess a translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22. The t(9;22) translocation is also occasionally found in acute lymphocytic leukemia(ALL) and acute myelogenous leukemia(AML) during CML blast crisis. Successive testing of transcripts may be performed to monitor disease progression.
