Part Descriptions
LP21314-7 Ritonavir
Ritonavir, with trade name Norvir® (Abbott Laboratories), is an antiretroviral drug from the protease inhibitor class used to treat HIV infection and AIDS. Ritonavir is frequently prescribed as the protease inhibitor component in HAART because it inhibits the same host enzyme that metabolizes NRTIs and NNRTIs. This inhibition leads to higher plasma concentrations of these latter drugs, allowing the clinician to lower their dose and frequency.

LP21314-7 Ritonavir
Viral genomic sequencing is performed on patient plasma. Genomic mutations may occur, resulting in resistance to specific antiretroviral drugs. Ritonavir is a Protease Inhibitor (PI) antiretroviral drug used in the treatment of HIV. Drug resistance reports assist with treatment decisions.
