Term Description

Indicates patient's Normalized Protein Catabolic Rate (nPCR)
Source: Regenstrief LOINC

Part Description

LP411545-9   Protein catabolic rate
Protein catabolic rates can be used to estimate protein intake in dialysis patients and determine if dietary protein consumption is appropriate. Protein catabolic rate (PCR) is calculated using the urea-nitrogen appearance rate (UNA). Special consideration including, dietary monitoring of caloric and protein intake, should be given to patients with low protein catabolic rates. PMID: 2129442 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
