Term Description
Platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) IgG class autoantibodies can be detected by enzyme immunoassays. Results may be interpreted by humans or automated methods and used for the diagnosis of system sclerosis (SSc, diffuse and limited forms) and overlapping syndromes. This code was created for, but not limited to, the detection of PDGFR autoantibodies in Euroimmun's Systemic Sclerosis (Nucleoli) Profile EUROLINE (IgG) test kit.

Antibodies to the platelet derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) are a marker of systemic sclerosis. Anti-PDGFR antibodies activate the PDGFR and stimulate production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and collagen. In contrast to normal PDGF receptor activation, which is typically short-lived, PDGFR antibodies cause persistent activation and therefore prolonged stimulation of ROS production and collagen overproduction, which leads to fibrosis.
