MICA*007 IgG Ab [Presence] in Serum
Active
Term Description
IgG antibodies to MICA antigens, including MICA*007, can be detected in the serum of people during pregnancy, blood product transfusion, or unsuccessful organ transplants. MICA antibody testing identifies antibodies against a panel of MICA antigens using flow cytometry. MICA antibody testing using serum can be done pre and post transplantation. A positive result is an indication of sensitization to MICA antigens. This term is based on, but not exclusive to, the submitter's test kit, LIFECODES LSATM -MIC:, a Luminex® screening assay for the qualitative detection of anti-MICA IgG antibodies.

Part Descriptions
LP174471-5 MICA*007
Major histocompatibility complex class I chain-related antigen A (MICA) proteins are like HLA class I gene products. MICA has a role as a ligand for activation of receptor NKG2D. Like the HLA system, MICA molecules can elicit antibody responses during pregnancy, blood product transfusion, or organ transplant rejection. A significant percentage of exposed individuals will produce anti-MICA antibodies. Presence or absence of MICA antibodies may assist clinicians in determining the survival of organ transplant patients.
