Term Description
Enteroviruses include polio, coxsackie and echoviruses and are in the Picornaviridae family. Enteroviruses are responsible for a wide variety of disease, from conjunctivitis and upper respiratory infections to aseptic meningitis, myocarditis, and paralytic poliomyelitis. This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, the Light Diagnostics Pan-Enterovirus detection kit, which can detect the presence of 67 numbered enterovirus types, including 31 echoviruses, 23 coxsackie A and 6 coxsackie B viruses, 3 polioviruses and 4 other enteroviruses.
