Arginase-1 [Mass/volume] in Serum by Immunoassay
Active
Term Description
Arginase-1 (s-Arg-1, Liver-type) levels are measured to monitor patients with liver disorders or pre- and postoperative conditions of patients who received partial hepatoectomy with quicker normalization in comparison with aminotransferases (ALT and AST). Additionally, chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients have been found to have increased myeloid derived suppressor cell (MDSC) numbers and high arginase-1 levels. PMID: 23383287
Part Description
LP190776-7 Arginase-1
Arginase is an enzyme that hydrolyzes arginine to ornithine and urea. Two isoforms of arginase have been defined: liver-type arginase (arginase-1) and extrahepatic type arginase (arginase-2). PMID: 6419196 They differ in their tissue distribution, subcellular localization, immunologic crossreactivity and physiologic function. Arginase-1 [UniProt: P05089], encoded by the ARG1 gene, is a cytosolic enzyme and expressed to some extent in erythrocytes but predominantly in the liver as a component of the urea cycle. - Change Reason
- The EIA method, which was always intended to cover more than just enzyme-linked immunoassay and whose display name for the long common name has always been Immunoassay, was renamed IA in order to eliminate ambiguity about whether the method has a broader meaning than just enzyme-linked immunoassay. Likewise, EIA.rapid was renamed IA.rapid. These changes were approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
