This term is used to report a summary finding of the number of coronary artery segments that are stenosed based on coronary angiogram. Information about the number of vessels and specific vessels involved helps guide patient management decisions (e.g., whether to treat with diet and exercise, medication alone, percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass graft), and the extent of disease is associated with risk of other conditions such as myocardial infarction.
