Lefamulin [Susceptibility] by Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)
Active
Part Description
LP247819-8 Lefamulin
Lefamulin is an antibiotic in the pleuromutilin class and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by selectively binding to the ribosomal peptidyl transferase center and interfering with peptide transfer. It can be administered orally and intravenously and is effective against respiratory and skin pathogens, including Staphylococcus and Streptococcus species, gram-negative organisms such as Haemophilus influenzae, and atypical respiratory pathogens such as Mycoplasma and Chlamydophila pneumoniae and Legionella pneumophila. As of early 2017, lefamulin is being studied in phase 3 clinical trials. PMID: 27161634
