Hantavirus RNA [Presence] in Tissue by NAA with probe detection
Active
Part Description
LP16669-1 Hantavirus
Hantavirus is a genus of viruses transmitted by rodent urine, saliva or feces. Hantavirus infections may result in Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS) or Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS). Due to variations in the host rodent species, diverse hantavirus strains can be found throughout the world. In conjunction with history of exposure, serologic assays are used to detect the presence of hantavirus antibodies. The specific assays used varies from lab to lab, but may include enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), Western blot assay, or rapid immunoblot strip assay (RIBA).[CDC: hantavirus]
