LP172561-5 Ceftolozane+Tazobactam
Ceftolozane is a cephalosporin with powerful activity against Gram-negative bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacteriaceae.[http://aac.asm.org/content/57/4/1577.full] Tazobactam is a beta lactamase inhibitor and penicillin derivative that is effective against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.[PubChem: 123630] Ceftolozane blocks penicillin binding proteins which disrupts bacterial cell-wall synthesis that leads to bacterial cell death. When tazobactam is added to ceftolozane, there is a broader spectrum of antimicrobial activity against resistant strains including extended spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs).Tazobactam prevents class A beta-lactamases and some class C beta-lactamases from hydrolyzing ceftolozane. Together, ceftolozane+tazobactam are an effective treatment for complicated urinary tract infections, complicated intra-abdominal infections, hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia, and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia. LP6300-0 Gradient strip
A gradient strip is a reagent strip that contains a predefined concentration gradient of a specific antibiotic or combination of antibiotics that is used for antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) and antimicrobial resistance detection (ARD).
For AST, the result is reported in terms of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of a specific antimicrobial that prevents the visible growth of bacteria. In LOINC, the "Gradient strip" method is used for AST gradient strips that result in an MIC result.
For ARD, the result is reported as the presence or absence of a specific enzyme or other mechanism that confers resistance, which is determined based on comparing the inhibitory concentration (IC) of a specific antimicrobial with the IC of that antimicrobial plus a resistance inhibitor. In LOINC, the "Gradient strip ARD" method is used for ARD gradient strips, which are not intended for determining individual MIC values.
