Part Descriptions
LP32397-9 Ab.IgG4
IgG4 is the least common subtype of IgG, and it has a variety of functions. In the context of allergic disease it is thought to have an immune-inhibitory role in preventing anaphylaxis and is commonly known as a "blocking" antibody. IgG4 binding to an allergen can compete with IgE-mediated binding, thereby inhibiting the activation of mast cells and basophils and IgE-mediated presentation to T-cells. Measuring IgG4 and its ratio to IgE has a role in monitoring allergen specific immunotherapy PMID: 26023323. IgG4 is also thought to have a role in autoimmunity and be involved in a less defined entity known as IgG4-Related Disease, a chronic immune-mediated fibroinflammatory disorder that often manifests with tumor-like masses .[https://www.merckmanuals.com/professional/musculoskeletal-and-connective-tissue-disorders/igg4-related-disease/igg4-related-disease]

LP35808-2 Wuchereria bancrofti+Brugia malayi
Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi and Brugia timori are the three species of filaria that cause lymphatic filariasis in humans living in the tropics and sub-tropics. Infection is spread from person to person by mosquito bites. The adult worms live and reproduce in the human lymphatic system, creating millions of microscopic worms called microfilariae. When a person who is infected is bitten by a mosquito, the mosquito becomes infected, and the microfilariae mature inside the mosquito. When the mosquito bites another person, the larval worms are passed from the mosquito to the human and travel to the lymphatic system, where they grow into adult worms. Most people with lymphatic filariasis are asymptomatic, and a few develop lymphedema, primarily in the legs, but also in the arms, breasts, and genitals. People with lymphedema are more susceptible to bacterial infections of the skin and lymphatic system, which can lead to hardening and thickening of the skin, also known as elephantiasis.
Filarial infection can also cause tropical pulmonary eosinophilia syndrome. Lymphatic filariasis primarily develops in people who have gotten mosquito bites in an endemic area over an extended period of time. [https://www.cdc.gov/parasites/lymphaticfilariasis/] Studies have shown that different IgG isotypes may characterize different stages of infection. IgG1, IgG2 and IgG3 are most common in asymptomatic patients, while IgG4 is a marker of active infection. PMID: 28118850 In addition, larval antigens may have a stronger IgG1 response, followed by IgG2 and IgG3, while IgG4 is the most common isotype found in response to adult filaria. PMID: 9491413
