Active
Part Description
LP267482-0 Aminoglycoside
Aminoglycosides are a class of antibiotics that consists of many different agents, including gentamicin, tobramycin, amikacin, streptomycin, neomycin, and paromomycin, which are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and most commonly used for the treatment of serious infections caused by aerobic gram-negative bacilli. PMID: 7521830 Gentamicin, tobramycin, and amikacin are the most frequently prescribed. Aminoglycosides are active against mycobacteria and a broad spectrum of aerobic gram-negative and gram-positive organisms. They are relatively stable against the development of resistance but both intrinsic and acquired mechanisms of resistance have been described.[UpToDate: aminoglycosides]
