Term Description
The pulmonary embolism rule-out criteria (PERC) is a clinical decision support tool for identifying patients at low risk for pulmonary embolism (PE). It contains 8 questions, including age, heart rate, pulse oximetry result, and past medical history. Each question is binary, and an answer of "No" is assigned a score of 0, and an answer of "Yes" is assigned a score of 1. If the answers to all 8 questions are "No" (total score of 0), the patient is considered to be at low risk for PE. If one or more answers is "Yes" (total score of >= 1), then further testing is indicated. PMID: 25745794
