Term Description

The Wells score is a clinical decision support tool for identifying the probability of a patient having pulmonary embolism (PE). It includes 7 variables, including heart rate, signs and symptoms, past medical history, and likelihood of an alternative diagnosis. The maximum possible score is 12.5, with a score of less than 2, 2-6, and greater than 6 indicating a low, intermediate, and high probability of PE, respectively. PMID: 17973649
