Part Descriptions
LP310484-3 Candida dubliniensis
Candida dubliniensis is an opportunistic fungal pathogen first isolated in 1995 from the oral cavity of HIV patients, and it is a more common cause of disease in patients with hematologic malignancies. Although it is a close relative of the major pathogenic species, Candida albicans, and rates of invasive disease caused by C. dubliniensis are possibly increasing, it has proven to be less virulent. Its phenotypic similarities have sometimes resulted in misidentification as C. albicans. Isolates have mostly been found to be sensitive to itraconazole, ketoconazole, amphotericin B, and fluconazole, although fluconazole-resistant cases have emerged PMID: 22396802.
