Term Description

This assay detects high risk Human papilloma virus (HPV) genotypes 16 and 18 mRNA in tissue by in situ hybridization. The result (e.g. detected/not detected) only indicates whether either of the probes were detected. It does not differentiate between HPV 16 & 18. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the submitter's reported result for the Ventana HPV 16 & 18 mRNA probe kits, which bind to HPV 16 & 18 E6/E7 mRNA transcripts.
